UN: THE INTERNATIONAL MIGRATION IS FEMALE ONE
From UNFPA report, presented on September 6 in Rome by AIDOS (Italian association of women for development) follows that more than a half of legal migrants are women and are the first victims of abuses in Europe, North America and Oceania, as well as are more subjected to exploitation. Many women are finishing by enriching the international sex market (that 90 % is female): from more than two millions of human trade victims, 80% are women and girls, for an annual business turnover of 7 and 12 milliards dollars, at second place only after trafficking in drugs and arms.

In Milan the European network against trafficking in people and women was presented.
It is called Enatw (European network against trafficking woman) and is an European network, created in 2003 and coordinated by Italian association Irene (Iniziative ricerche esperienze nuova Europa – Initiatives research experiences new Europe). Trafficking in people and local authorities: Rome, July 14, round table with ANCI and AICCRE
NO Human Trade! in collaboration with ANCI and AICCRE calls the local authorities to a round table on the subject: Trafficking in people and local authorities, roles, competence and experiences in Italy. The meeting is fixed for Friday, July 14 2006 at 9.30 in Rome in the Conference hall ANCI Nazionale at the address 46, via dei Prefetti str., - block A. The Italian legislation in force vest the local authorities with important responsibilities in the field of assistance and social integration of victims of trafficking in people, aimed at various types of exploitation (sexual, labor, begging, etc.). At debates will participate the vice president ANCI; experts of NO Human Trade!; state representatives of Communes, cooperating with the project; the president of the national anti-trafficking coordination Caritas Italia; the national secretary of AICCRE nazionale. Will moderate over the meeting the journalist Gennaro Schettino. The meeting wants to be a beginning of reflections on the subject, which will continue on November 6 at COM-PA in Bologna. Switzerland is ratifying the UN Convention against organized crime and trafficking in people.
Switzerland joins to world fight against organized crime. After the Council of States the National Council as well, with 127 votes without demur, have given the go-ahead to the ratification of UN Convention and its two protocols (trafficking in migrants and fight against trafficking in people). It is about new instruments supporting at international level the prevention and contrast of these crimes.

The number of poor children prone to exploitation is growing: UN report on children’s rights.
Children, both Italian and foreign more and more are subjected to the risk of exploitation, deviancy, want and poverty, according to the report, diffused some days ago by the Work Group of The UN Convention on Rights for childhood and adolescence (Crc), which puts Italy on the second place by number of poor children in Europe. "It is unheard-of that for many quite serious questions, regarding the conditions of children in Italy, there are no data already for years", underlines the coordinator of Work Group, Arianna Saulini. "Till today it is impossible to determine the number of children, victims of human trade, because the only available data is regarding the issue of residence permits for social reasons and more incomplete are the statistics regarding the abuses to the prejudice of minors".

The new "council for human rights" was born.
On March 16 the General Assembly of United Nations made a decision with 170 votes pro, three abstain and four contra – among them also USA – regarding the creation of a new and more effective body for human rights. The new body should substitute the existing UN Geneva Commission. The new Council for Human Rights will consist of 47 countries members, elected directly by General Assemble for three years. The first session will be hold at Geneva on June 19 current year and will have a duty of higher profile, among that the methodical analysis of situation with human rights in every of 191 countries members. Annual sessions will increase from two to three. “It is a revolutionary resolution" – so defined it the UN General Secretary Kofi Annan, while the Swede Jan Eliasson, the author of new body, stated that the new body will allow to promote "the fundamental foundations instituted by UN with the Declaration on human rights".

According to 2001 Euro Commission report, in Western Europe about 120.000 women and children become the aim of trafficking in people. In Riga, Latvia, March 22-25 were discussed European actions on No Human Trade!
In Riga on March 22 - 25 within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with participation of representatives of projects-partners Equal of Latvia, Greece and Sweden took place the third meeting AHTNET (Networking Against Human Trafficking, cod 4458), project of European cooperation Equal NO Human Trade! Like any other meeting was made a comparison of situation with implementation of foreseen transnational actions: exhibition on trafficking in subject in Italy on December 6 and in Brussels in May 2007; collected real life stories; a structured path of collection and integration of good practices of intervention and analysis of legislation in the field of prevention and contrast of trafficking in people in each one country. The project will be concluded with a seminar hold in Brussels in May 2007 with presentation of exhibition and good practiced used within the European bodies. THE BALCANS: MINISTERS OF SOUTH-EASTERN EUROPEN COUNTRIES AGAINST HUMAN TRADE.
The ministers of the Interior and Justice from nine south-eastern European countries have set their hand on a document of mutual commitment in order to consolidate the initiatives of fight against human trade, terrorism and organized crime and to have more close collaboration with European Union in this field. This is the result of work day of ministers of South-Eastern Europe Collaboration Process (Seecp) hold on February 8 in Greece. Greece at the moment is in the chair in Seecp, Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, FYROM, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey and Serbia and Montenegro are members of. Moldova is observer country. THE BALCANS: EVEN ITALIAN GRIFFES INVOLVED IN WORK EXPLOITATION.
Over eight years the conditions of work in domestic ateliers in Eastern European countries and Turkey remained in essence invariable: 15 hours a day 6 or 7 work days a week, insufficient salary or under minimal level foreseen by legislation, unreliability, lack of sanitary safe and protection against accidents, sexual molestation and maltreatment, discrimination and anti-union actions are a constancy in the clothing industry for export. It is mentioned in third publication of Clean Clothes Campaign regarding the condition of work in Eastern Europe. And while in Italy on February 18 the Commission for Industry within the Senate have adopted a draft regarding identifiability of Italian products, two Bulgarian woman-workers died these days at Italian shoe factory Euroshoes at 30 km from Sofia.

MAXI BLIZ AGAINST HUMAN TRADE: 31 ARRESTS.
February, 3 2006 came to the end at Crotone the maxi blitz, which have hit against an important criminal organization managing the transfer of African immigrants from Libya to Italy. The operation has been concluded with 31 arrests not only in Crotone, but also in Milan, Florence, Bologna and Rieti. Among accusations are enslavement and sexual violence against women and children. It is also pursuing an investigation of murder of two Nigerian citizens.
